About Bethany
I’m a first year philosophy undergraduate at the University of Manchester, currently studying for a degree in philosophy and predicted a First. In 2024, I sat my A-Level philosophy exam under the AQA exam board and achieved an A*.
I specialise in the AQA Philosophy specification, including Moral Philosophy, Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind and Metaphysics of God. As I have studied the course recently, I have a strong understanding of the arguments and essay techniques required to achieve high grading essays. To help students gain success with philosophy, I also provide detailed notes for each topic and essay plans tailored to the AQA spec.
What motivates me is seeing students gain confidence in their thinking and begin to evaluate philosophical arguments independently! Philosophy can be challenging, but with the right explanation and structure it becomes much more manageable. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions!

My lessons are friendly, supportive, and designed to build confidence in A-Level Philosophy! I specialise in the AQA Philosophy specification and lessons typically focus on 25-mark essay technique, argument evaluation and examiner expectations.
I teach a clear and repeatable essay structure that helps students consistently meet AO1/AO2 criteria, helping students to achieve high graded essays. My approach focuses also on building strong understanding of philosophical ideas, precise argument evaluation and confident writing - helping students move towards A/A* performance. I provide detailed, clear and structured notes for each topic tailored to the AQA spec.
In addition to providing specific exam technique, I also help students develop transferable skills of critical thinking and argument evaluation. These skills will help students ability to critically engage and evaluate philosophical arguments, which is the key marking point for high achieving candidates in the AQA exam board.
