About Mark
I'm a writer and academic who has been teaching in universities around the UK since 2007. Having taught at the Universities of Huddersfield, Bradford, Wolverhampton and Worcester, I currently work full time for the Open University. I have a PhD and Masters in Creative Writing and specialise in helping students hone their written work both in terms of stories, scripts and poetry and also essays and dissertations.

When teaching Creative Writing my methodology is very much working with your ideas and using the techniques and approaches from the fields of narratology and screenwriting to help you realise your ideas in a way that's most engaging for your readers. With academic writing, I use my understanding of classical rhetoric to examine what a question is asking for or to consider the argument of a thesis or dissertation and then consider how you can most effectively shape your answer to respond to that aim.
