About Katya

Whether you are preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, a year abroad, or learning a language for work or pleasure, I am here to support your journey in French, Spanish, Russian or English. Every student is different, so every lesson is built around your unique needs and goals.

I speak five languages fluently and have lived and worked across Europe and Central Asia. My year abroad was split between Kazakhstan and Estonia, where I gained fluency in Russian. I have also lived in Málaga and Barcelona, which gave me fluency in Spanish, and completed internships in Paris (three months) and Barcelona (three months). These experiences gave me a deep cultural understanding and a personal connection to each language.

I started tutoring because I remember how frustrating it felt to study a language for years and still hesitate when speaking. I also remember the breakthrough moment when that changed. Helping students reach that moment is what drives me.

MA-level graduate (predicted First Class) – UCL Institute of Education, Intercultural Communication

A-Levels: A* in French and Spanish

GCSEs: Grade 9 in French and Spanish

| Who I Teach |

I work with children from primary level upwards, GCSE and A-Level students, university students (including year abroad preparation), business professionals, and adult learners. Whether you need exam technique, conversation practice, essay help, or cultural preparation for living abroad, I adapt to you.

I believe learning a language is not just about grammar and vocabulary. It is about building confidence, understanding culture, and becoming comfortable with being imperfect while you learn. I bring patience, real-world experience, and a personalised plan to every session.

About the lesson

My approach starts with two simple questions: where are you now, and where do you want to be? From there, I build a plan that is realistic, flexible, and designed around you.

Every student is different. Some need help working through difficult homework or revisiting topics that never quite clicked. Others want exam preparation, conversation practice, or cultural confidence before a year abroad. I adapt to what you actually need, not what a textbook says you should do.

I introduce a range of language-learning tools and techniques so we can find what works best for you, whether that is flashcards, listening exercises, writing practice, or role-playing real-life situations. My goal is not just to help you improve, but to help you actually enjoy the process. When learning feels less like a chore and more like something you want to do, progress follows naturally.
