About Dr Lisa

Hello, I am a Doctor in Psychology and Behavioural Science from the University of Cambridge, where I completed my PhD (passed with no corrections) within the Political Psychology Lab, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Policy, as well as a postdoctoral member of Queens' College's Senior Common Room. My doctoral research examined how elected politicians misperceive public support for climate policies and how evidence-based interventions can improve judgement in high-stakes institutional settings. Alongside my postdoctoral work, I am also leading research for the Cabinet Office, the UK Government's senior decision-making office supporting the Prime Minister. My findings have received international media coverage, including in The Guardian and Times Radio, and you can find out more about my research on my Linkedin profile 'Dr Lisa-Maria Tanase'.

I have extensive experience leading research that generates strong policy impact:
-my work has for instance been discussed by a Minister of State in the UK House of Commons and contributed to a Parliament’s Net Zero Select Committee evidence inquiry.
- I have delivered invited talks in the Palace of Westminster for cross-party All-Party Parliamentary Groups, organised a high-level policy workshop at the Royal Society for Lords, Members of Parliament and senior government officials,
- and advised international policy collaborators extending this research across Europe.
- I was awarded the £10,000 Policy Innovation Grant by the Cambridge Centre for Science and Policy in recognition of the translational impact of my research.

-I deliver invited keynote talks and roundtables for policy institutes and corporate leaders.

At the University of Cambridge, I am also lecturing on several courses and have been an active supervisor to undergraduate students in STEMM subjects (Psychology specialisation).

I am a highly qualified tutor whose expertise, work ethic, and commitment for academic excellence you can trust: My papers as first author have been published in top journals such as the Royal Society Open Science Journal and Nature Portfolio. I passed my PhD Viva with no corrections, graduated with Distinction from the UCL MSc Cognitive and Decision Science, I was nominated on the Dean’s List and was awarded the Ambassador Award for Excellence and contribution to the community.

About the lesson

- If you need support with your thesis or research at any academic level, you are in the right place.
- My research as first author has been published in the Royal Society Open Science Journal, was covered by The Guardian and other international outlets.
- Before completing my PhD at the University of Cambridge, I have worked over two years in a research centre for risk and evidence communication within the University of Cambridge Mathematics Department, where I contributed to both quantitative and qualitative studies. I am passionate about helping people understand complex scientific concepts and statistical information.
- I will provide clear guidance on the steps to take for rigorous research
- Support for selecting the right experimental design
- Guidance for sample size / study population / power calculation
- Designing the study material, be it a Qualtrics survey, or a material you want to design fully by coding it.
- Guidance for analysis plan, reporting results
- Review/Guidance for academic write up

-> Improve your level in specific areas of Psychology/ Behavioural Science for exams or essays:

- I have expertise in a range of areas of psychology including social psychology, behavioural economics, political psychology, behavioural change, developmental psychology, decision science, cognitive neuroscience.
- If you lack confidence when approaching studies or theories falling within any area, please specify this in your first session with me and I will provide in depth support focused on this.

As a Dr, I am also employed by the University of Cambridge to officially supervise its undergraduate students in STEMM subjects (Psychology specialisation). I have also privately tutored many students throughout my PhD at Cambridge, as well as Graduate and Undergraduate Degrees at UCL.

My experience in international school systems also makes me understand the key challenges new students face: I graduated from the French High School with the highest distinction before joining University College London and the University of Cambridge for my undergraduate and doctoral studies, and I love being able to share my tips and personal approach to confidently improve your academic level.

I can help you progress and achieve your goals by making your learning fun, free from anxiety and based on open communication and patience.
I deeply enjoy making science less scary and more fun for my tutees.

Let's make progress together! Please contact me to discuss your needs in further details.
