About Isabelle
I'm Isabelle, I'm currently a university student studying Child Development Psychology and Classics, but I am starting my path as an English Teacher.
I've taught as a tutor before, and years ago, I was tutored. I understand what my students feel as they go through the process of regaining confidence and learning new skills. As such I inspire to bring a fun, casual environment for students to feel comfortable learning in without fear of making mistakes.
I love ancient literature, but my favourite subject will always be Shakespearean literature, such as Macbeth and Sonnet 18. I graduated from college in my English and Classics NCEA scholarship program, although I also have my A-levels for both subjects. My favourite period in history is Classical Greece, and I enjoy debating greek philosophy.

With my three years of experience as a tutor for ages 8 to 18, I have focused on supporting the build-up of skills and gaining confidence in their own abilities. I have tutored for several companies and within school, looking at English, Classics, and History. Currently pursuing an Education degree with a focus on English.
Personalized assessments on age and school level help determine their strengths and their weaknesses in their understanding. Using that basis, you can focus on their weak areas and look at on breaking apart complex subjects and issues in a step-by-step lesson. If they have to write an essay and they struggle to stay on topic, looking at essay structure outlines and how they would address each needed grade point using what they already know would be the best technique to teach them. Plenty of praise and the understanding that learning tends to stick more if your child has fun, along with the repetition that assists memory.
Lessons would be typically 1 to 2 hours long, once a week, although this can be flexible depending on how much support a student requires.
NCEA and Cambridge level based lessons for ages 13-18
