About Rayne
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on ecosystem management and restoration.
I have lots of up-to-date experience with preparation for SQA examination, completing an Applied Science HNC 3 years ago and receiving my year's certificate of excellence.
I have supported multiple students over the last year, in the process refining my own tutoring skills and creating an extensive collection of resources and practice material.
My blend of ongoing study and teaching experience allows me to break down complex concepts clearly, all whilst creating a comfortable, personalised and confidence-building learning experience for my students.

My tutoring is aimed at secondary students working towards their Highers and Advanced Highers in chemistry and biology subjects.
My primary method for teaching is through research-backed Active Recall techniques for solidifying knowledge until information-recall is second nature, then building off that foundation through Visualising Techniques and Mind-Palaces/Method of Loci to connect isolated facts into a deep understanding of complex topics.
The best way to learn is through failure. I promote students to feel safe making mistakes before working together through the problem to identify exactly where they misstepped. For this reason, regular testing with customised past-paper questions is an important part of my teaching strategy.
While these are the underlying structure of my teaching, I will always be flexible and accommodating to the student's needs to provide them with a tutoring experience that gets the best results for them.
My typical lesson length is 1-2 hours including breaks, online or in-person in the Edinburgh.
