About Abby

Hello! My name is Abby, I am an undergraduate student at The University of Manchester, who loves reading and writing and would love to help other students find their passion for English too. In my spare time I practise my creative writing, writing short stories and poetry; during my time at school I entered school-based competitions. I enjoy the expression of language that writing offers us and this passion translates into my teaching. Whether this includes literature from Shakespeare to Carol Ann Duffy’s work, language and grammar or exam practise, I am here to help you reach your full potential. Thank you for your time.

About the lesson

As a student myself, I understand the difficulties in finding what works for you, therefore there is no set way to teach the content. However figuring out what is difficult or unclear aspects for a specific student and explaining or demonstrating in ways that may work for them specifically would be my approach A typical lesson would be an hour per week, but is flexible to demands or if extra support is needed! I am willing to teach any stage of English, from primary school to A level. This can include the 11+, despite having no official experience, I took the 11+ myself and went to a Grammar school and supported my brother through the same process. During my A levels, I tutored four students GCSE English, including language papers and Romeo and Juliet, following AQA specification, which I too sat. However, I can familiarise myself with other exam board specifications too.
