About Phoebe

My name is Phoebe, a UCSD graduate with a B.S. in Microbiology taking some time off before applying to med school. With 10 years of tutoring experience and being a recent grad, I am able to teach from a student's perspective. This includes pinpointing best studying habits for the student as well as focusing on subject weaknesses while maintaining strengths. Having taught a wide age range, I strive to build a good educational foundation - I believe that having strong basics is the best way to understand challenging material. I welcome questions and am open to helping outside of scheduled tutoring hours. Everyone has the potential to succeed academically - as long as you are willing to ask, I am more than happy to help.

About the lesson

I have been tutoring since my freshman year in high school w/ experience in math, science, English (reading comprehension and writing skills), as well as test prep for the ACT and SAT. I have mentored students for extracurriculars such as the Scholastic Art & Writing competition with students having a great track record of placing regionally each year. On top of this, I have experience mentoring high schoolers who wish to pursue the pre-med track in college - this includes looking for academic extracurriculars and college essay editing. Tutoring style differs based on student's needs w/ focus on school material. I structure my lesson plans to the student's requirements.

Perfect! Phoebe is the most organized and responsible tutor. She goes above and beyond. My daughter had a tutor since October and she was still not understanding, she didn’t feel comfortable with the tutor at all and her grades didn’t go up much. One sessions with phoebe she has gone up 2
Letter grades and is starting to comprehend. She doesn’t just leave if your child is stuck on something. She asks if you want summaries of what they have done… I couldn’t be more pleased! She is a godsend
