About Chasia

Hi there! I'm Chasia. I completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA and received my Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Columbia University. I have been a teacher and tutor for 10+ years. I've worked with students of all ages in many subjects, such as ESL, TOEFL/ACT/SAT/GRE/AP test prep, math, reading comprehension, chemistry, and social studies. As a former Director of Student Success and Lead Teacher at an education company, I managed the individualized learning programs of hundreds of students and designed curricula to promote students' critical literacy development. Meanwhile, I also taught 100+ students of my own in one-on-one and small class settings.

In addition to private tutoring K-12 students as well as adults, I have also volunteered as an English conversation instructor for a large class of visiting scholars and international faculty at UCLA, taught intensive skills-based ESL courses to small groups of adults, as well as designed and implemented alternative solutions for distance learning during the pandemic as a founding teacher at an online middle and high school.

These experiences have shaped and refined my teaching style and my commitment to a learner-centered approach. Whether you are seeking support in general ESL or language test prep (e.g., TOEFL), I am ready and excited to partner with you in your learning journey and give you the tools to confidently achieve your goals.

About the lesson

With proven methods for customized learning support, I have helped hundreds of students exceed their own expectations and achieve excellent results—while building skills that last a lifetime. Whether you're preparing for high-stakes exams or learning to communicate in a new language, I'm here to support you each step of the way.

I believe that learning is about much more than just gaining new knowledge. My approach focuses on uncovering how you learn. When you gain the tools for effective and efficient learning, you have the power to take charge of the path to your goals. Things that were once daunting become exciting new adventures as you begin to see all that you're capable of!

I use the most current principles and practices of Communicative Language Teaching and help you to build your skills and confidence to communicate effectively in English for your everyday life. With years of advanced training and expertise in learner-centered instruction, I provide comprehensive support to adult English Language Learners who want to advance their English language abilities and achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals.

Ultimately, learning is about growing as a person. It takes patience, humility, and perseverance. It's often hard work. But true learning is always transformational. Are you ready to get started?
