About Kristina

Hi! I'm a UCLA Business Economics student and a graduate of San Diego Miramar College with a passion for helping students succeed in math. Throughout my academic journey, I've tutored classmates, led study groups, and worked with students through Miramar College's Academic Success Center, gaining experience explaining challenging concepts in a clear and approachable way.

I understand that math can feel intimidating, but I believe every student is capable of succeeding with the right guidance. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes, and building confidence in their abilities. I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs and learning style, whether they're preparing for an exam, completing homework, or strengthening their overall understanding of the subject.

I take pride in being patient, reliable, and encouraging, and I'm committed to helping every student reach their academic goals. I look forward to helping you build confidence and achieve success in math!

About the lesson

My goal as a tutor is to help students truly understand concepts rather than simply memorize procedures. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to each individual's pace and learning preferences. I break down complex topics into simple, manageable steps, encourage questions throughout the lesson, and use guided practice to build confidence before students solve problems independently.

A typical lesson begins by reviewing previous material and identifying any areas of difficulty. We then work through new concepts together using examples, followed by practice problems that gradually increase in difficulty. I provide constructive feedback throughout the session and end by reviewing key takeaways and discussing strategies for continued practice.

What sets me apart is my ability to explain concepts in multiple ways until they make sense to the student. As someone who has successfully completed rigorous college-level mathematics courses and tutored peers, I understand the challenges students face and strive to create a supportive, encouraging learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions.

My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and introductory college students seeking help with algebra, geometry, precalculus, college algebra, and other foundational math courses, whether they need ongoing support, homework assistance, or exam preparation.
