About Mary

I'm currently studying for a BSc in Psychology at UCL, 6th best institution in the world for this subject. I have a strong academic background, having achieved 4 A*s at A Level in Psychology, Biology, Economics and Russian. In Psychology specifically, I scored 93% in Paper 3 (Issues and options in psychology), overall achieving 87%. At GCSE, I received 5 A*s and 4 As. This academic foundation has given me a deep understanding of psychology, as well as a solid grasp of the most effective revision techniques and how to approach different types of A Level exam questions, considering I did my A levels quite recently. I also have experience tutoring Psychology and Biology at my Sixth Form, and was Head of the Psychology Society, where I regularly gave talks to younger students on topics beyond the curriculum.

About the lesson

My teaching style is very structured, which is essential for A Level Psychology. Each 8, 12 or 16-marker requires a different structure depending on how the question is worded. I focus on using active recall and flashcards to help students memorise key AO1 content, and I encourage students to link theories and studies to research methods and issues and debates — which is crucial for developing strong AO3 evaluation skills. My lessons typically involve reviewing content through active recall, thinking critically about AO3 points, and planning evaluation paragraphs for each topic. I also offer help with admissions to psychology-related courses, such as personal statement support, looking for possible extra and super curriculars, as well as what can be included in recommendation from teachers. I genuinely enjoy helping others understand psychology and achieve their academic goals, and I believe my recent experience with the A Level course puts me in a great position to support current students.

After a quick discussion about my weaknesses and strengths Mary was successful in finding a right approach for me. She delivered the material in understandable way for me and gave help with exam technique. The lessons were not only useful and helpful but also interesting. I’m sure she is a great professional, as she doesn’t use a cliche strategies, but trying to find a personal approach. After lessons with her my grades went up from Es and Ds to Bs and As, so I strongly recommend you this professional

Mary and I did our A levels together, she was always very responsible and thorough with her studies and helped me a lot during revision periods. She is great at structuring the material and breaking it down so that it’s easy to understand and remember. Her consistent support really elevated my focus and motivation!!
