About Diya
Hi! My name is Diya - I've just completed my final year studying BSc Biomedical Sciences at UCL, and will be starting the MSc in Applied Cancer Science programme at the University of Oxford later this year.
I first started teaching at a Saturday School in London, inspiring young students to explore and enjoy science through experimentation and creative thinking. I also worked as a teaching assistant at a school in India, in a classroom of 40 students, planning two months of fun, interactive lessons and problem-solving tasks tailored to the students' needs and course requirements. I love teaching because it's an opportunity to help other students grow academically, and I also learn a lot from the process myself!
I studied the International Baccalaureate in sixth form at King's College School Wimbledon, receiving a final grade of 45/45, studying Higher Level Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology, alongside Standard Level English, Maths, and Spanish.

My teaching style is interactive and tailored to each student. I simplify complex concepts using diagrams, real-world examples, exam questions, and active recall to build understanding and confidence. I have lots of experience in simplifying challenging concepts through my own Substack blog, where I regularly publish accessible articles on biological topics. I place strong emphasis on student feedback and progress, with regular check-ins to track areas for improvement, and adapt lessons accordingly.
