About Alexis

I am a piano performance student at UBC and have been playing piano for 17 years. I have been teaching to both children and adults for five years and plan on continuing in this new city. I have studied at Québec's Conservatory of Music and Sainte-Foy CÉGEP.

About the lesson

Music is universal. All genres and styles assemble themselves and form one musical absolute. With this in mind, it is crucial not to forget that each human being has different perspectives, approaches, sensitivity and desires. As a teacher, my priority is to consider the student's ways of making music. Both beginners and advanced have different methods of learning and doing, and my mission is to adapt to all the creative geniuses that will come in front of me. In this course, I will show you as much as colours and sounds you can make, see and hear on a piano. I believe in substantial technical grounds (scales, arpeggios, etc.) but also in thinking and analytical skills. Playing the piano is not just about pushing keys and hammers. It's about life.

As a former duet partner, a fellow pianist and a good friend of mine, Alexis Vollant has always been great teacher and a wonderful musician. He is both a great technician and a thoughtful performer. Alexis is friendly, professional and is truly passionate about music. I would recommend Alexis to anyone willing to bring their piano playing and musicianship to a new level.

I have met Alexis years ago and I have learned many things about him. First, Alexis is an excellent piano player who is constantly evolving and pushing his limits to reach perfection and expression. Second, he deeply connects with anyone who crosses his path. Combine these two and you get an awsome piano teacher. He cares for your success and always finds creative ways to make you learn and evolve as a pianist. In the end, it will be worth your time. You will go from apprentice to master in no time!

Alexis is a good friend of mine, we met at a musical camp. He's such a passionate musician with a great sensibility, and he's always invested in his musical projects. And he keeps on learning me new facts about interpretation and music in general everytime we talk! Knowing all that, I have no doubt he's a great and interesting music teacher that has a lot to give to his students!

Alexis and I have been colleague and friends for 5 years now; I played many times with him and he always finds a way to guide me trough the music by teaching me other ways to play or just by explaining new concepts to me.

I know I would recommend Alexis to anyone who wants to learn or continue to learn the piano, wether it’s young children/adult without piano experiences or more advanced students. Alexis is a very passionate, dedicated, encouraging and patient musician and teacher; he knows how to bring out students’ full potential by guiding them trough lessons.
