About Athena
My name is Athena, and I am currently a secondary school teacher and I trained at UCL, teaching as part of my PGCE placement. I specialise in Music education and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance as a concert pianist. I am professional, organised, and highly student-focused, with a strong commitment to supporting learners through clear explanations, structured lessons, and a positive learning environment.

My teaching approach is highly personalised and student-centred. I believe every student learns differently, so I take time to understand each learner’s strengths, challenges, and preferred learning style before adapting my teaching methods accordingly. My aim is to build confidence, clarity, and genuine understanding rather than rote learning. I use a combination of clear explanations, guided practice, questioning, and practical application, ensuring students are actively engaged throughout the lesson. In music, this often includes linking theory to performance, using listening examples, and breaking complex ideas into manageable steps. I regularly check understanding and adjust the pace to suit the student.
