About Julia
I am a global health professional with a passion for language. I speak Spanish, French, and English, and have lived in the United States (I'm a native New Yorker!), Argentina, El Salvador, Mali, and now Colombia - I am currently based in Medellin, a leafy green city in Colombia.
I have a Master's degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor's degree from Middlebury College in International Studies and Spanish. I have enjoyed teaching and tutoring Spanish for years. As an Spanish tutor I received 5-star ratings, and helped students make sense of their homework and excel on exams. I can help you improve your conversational skills and achieve academic success!

I tailor tutoring sessions to the needs of each student. I am particularly experienced at providing homework help and exam preparation to students of all levels.
To the extent that a student is able, I give my lessons in Spanish, and include friendly conversational exchanges in Spanish, so that the student has the chance to practice conversing, and begins to grasp the sound of the language.
However, at the earlier stages, I provide class in English, and also am adept at giving clear explanations of grammar. Having myself learned Spanish as a second language, I know what the hard parts are for a native English speaker are, and am able to clearly explain the grammar forms that tend to be challenging for English speakers first learning the language.
