About JAMES
I have taught all subjects in grades 1st-6th for 26 years. I have a Masters Degree in Education and am certified in Elementary K-6 and ESOL K-12. I won Social Studies Teacher of the Year, Teacher of the Year and and am rated Highly Effective. I also served as Grade Group Chairperson and headed or participated in several committees. I also created and directed the school Steel Drum Bands for 18 years. One highlight of my teaching career is when 100% of my students, including ESE and ESOL students, passed the FCAT Writes Test for 2 consecutive years. My Steel Drum Band also won the Young Musicians Spotlight for 2 years and performed on the radio. I also enjoyed raising over $1,000 by running a fundraiser for a student who had cancer.

I use several methods of teaching including state of the art strategies, traditional teaching methods and integrating the Arts with Academics. I determine the student's learning styles and interests so I can choose the most effective way to deliver the content so the student can reach their potential. I believe the relationship between student and teacher is crucial so I work hard at developing a positive relationship with each student.
