Duration : two days - Price : R800.00 - Place : Port Elizabeth (6001)I offer dialectical critical workshops on how to succeed at university and with one's academic careers and researches.
We synthesise the undesired dialectical anti-thesis of failures at university and in the academy within the desired dialectical thesis of doing well at university and in the academy.
I use the praxis of a practice that is guided by theory that is implemented by the practice.
We critically engage with the meanings of the key concepts of a success at university, in the academy and research and publication.
We practice academic, scholarly, and research skills and good academic writing.
We actively develop our academic writing, researches and scholarship. We get real feedback from a journal reviewer and editor within a safe place.
We shall work on
i. academic writing;
ii. critical thinking;
iii. study, learning and academic skills,;

v. publishing
vi. university life
vii. critical engagement with the ideas of others and one's own;

Course setup
I am using the dialectical approach
We shall begin by critically discussing and analysing the meanings of academia; university; scholarship; academic writing, critical engagement, originality of mind; communication; significant contribution to knowledge, field and a subject communicable; communicable writing, publication, referencing; edititorial boards, how to deal with editorials, critical reviewers and editors; PhD; Masters, academic degrees
We shall then discuss the meanings of doing well at university and having a successful academic career and life at university.
We shall also discuss the meanings of not doing well at university and in the academy and the reasons for this. We shall analytically discuss how to get degrees quickly and successfully, with distinction.
We shall then incorporate (synthesise) the undesired failures in the academy within our desired aim of succeeding in the academy. We shall be working out ways of transforming these failures (the dialectical anti-thesis), to our desired wishes to publish good work, get one's degrees quickly and successfully and do well at university.
We shall practice academic writing and work on developing the students' manuscripts to successful submissions.
We shall discuss scenarios of both failures and successes at university, how to transform failures to successes and what to do and what not to do.
I shall very honestly reveal the internal secrets of editorial boards, publication, publishing, university, examining and supervising and what to do and what not to do.
