About Robyn
I am DBS checked and have experience tutoring younger children.
During my time in sixth form, I volunteered twice a week in my school library as a `reading mentor` for younger students, primarily those with dyslexia or other learning difficulties. I therefore have an understanding of how to teach secondary school children, and how to approach and break-down difficult concepts so that they can be understood and remembered.
Alongside this experience, as a GCSE Spanish student I was also involved in my schools `Language leader` programme. This involved visiting both local primary schools, and year 7 and 8 classes and teaching Spanish lessons alone or as part of a small group of students. As a part of these lessons, I was required to source and create effective learning materials and mark work handed in. This skill can be forwarded onto my role as a tutor, as I gained an understanding of what materials students found helpful and how to lay them out in a user-friendly and beneficial fashion.
Finally, at university I have applied to become a STEM ambassador. This is a role involving teaching science to secondary school children and encouraging them to seek higher education in the fields of Science, Technology, English and Maths. This shows my continued interest in both teacher-student interaction and science as a field.
In a more general sense, I achieved highly at both GCSE (6A*s, 3As and 2Bs) and A-level (A*, A*, A, A) and have a genuine interest in the subject, with the desire to pursue medicine and continue my education post-graduate. My GCSE and A-level grades have also been recently achieved, therefore my knowledge of the specification and mark schemes are up-to-date and relevant for the current student cohort.

I will use skype and/or zoom (whichever is more convenient). From this platform I can discuss concepts and areas of insecurity. I have a iPad used to draw out difficult ideas and will be able to cast my computer screen to annotate and discuss diagrams with the student if necessary.
I will also email the student practise questions or past papers, which I can mark free of charge and we can study through in the next session. My sessions can be 30mins, 45 mins or 1 hour, dependent on time-restraints of the student and how they find they work best.
