About Aaron

It should be emphasized that lessons move at each student’s individual pace, with minimal instructor-driven pressure so as to allow careful cultivation of a positive relationship with musical learning. My approach is based on the principles and techniques I have learned throughout my own musical studies, especially while studying at The Juilliard School.

About the lesson

(Subjects covered include harmony, form, counterpoint, orchestration, (some) ear training, and notation.) A typical first lesson will include a brief discussion and recap of the student's experience level as well as establishing personal goals in order to better focus the contents of each meeting. Each subsequent lesson will include: • introductions to new musical ideas and techniques as well as a recap of previous materials and assignments. • Introductions to relevant repertoire in order to analyze and identify studied techniques in a real compositional environment, as well as to broaden their musical vocabulary. • Students will be assigned miniature projects to exercise their newly acquired musical skills in the form of small compositions, arrangements/orchestrations, musical exercises and listening suggestions. • Students will be given a list of suggested daily musical activities, designed to aid students in building consistent, self-driven learning habits.
