I always try to make my learners comfortable approaching my lessons in a different way. Trying to get them involved in my tutoring is a good way to start off a lesson. Asking them their opinions about a particular sum and how they can work around it. I come from a very difficult past and often times, it crippled me from achieving certain goals. That's why I hate tutoring without helping the learner holistically. I will give my learners homework at times such as writing a one page essay about their state of mind, or even their goals and aspirations. I know that my main focus is Maths but it's always better to understand the learners you working with and to help them become better people while enriching them with Mathematics.
I am a BA student at the University of the Western Cape doing my majors in English and Psychology. I have 3 years of tutoring experience, coupled with years of working with children and trying to understand the way they make sense of the world.
