About Kotryna

Hi, I'm Kotryna — a documentary and editorial photographer with over 10 years of experience working internationally. Originally from Lithuania, I’ve lived and worked across Europe, South America, Asia, and now New Zealand, always with my camera by my side. My work focuses on real stories and human connection, often exploring themes like identity, place, and memory. I’ve photographed for publications, collaborated on documentary films, and exhibited my work, but what I love most is helping others connect with their own creative voice. Teaching photography allows me to share not just technical skills, but the deeper, more intuitive side of image-making — how to see, feel, and respond to the world around you. In my photography, I playfully blend an array of styles, all dancing to the rhythm of a commitment to keeping it real and unstaged. Picture this: forming genuine connections with clients, stealthily staying incognito to capture authentic moments, and striking a harmonious balance between meeting client expectations and adding my creative touch. In my own documentary-style dance, I take a wild spin, challenging the norms in wedding photography and making the preservation of natural emotions a visual meditation. I have an education in Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Beckett University, the UK and Photography and Communication at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. I’m a documentary photographer with over 10 years of international experience, and I offer online photography lessons focused on helping you develop your unique way of seeing and shooting the world. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your documentary approach, my lessons are tailored to your level, goals, and interests. What You’ll Learn: - How to use your camera confidently (manual settings, exposure, focus) - Composition and visual storytelling techniques - Finding and developing your personal style - How to approach documentary projects - Introduction to editing and curating a photo series - Feedback and critique to help your growth Lesson Format - One-on-one online sessions (via video call) - 60 minutes per lesson - Flexible scheduling (weekly, bi-weekly, or as suits you) - Optional assignments and creative challenges between lessons About Me I’ve worked across Europe, South America, Asia, and Oceania, telling human-centered stories through photography. My background includes editorial assignments, exhibitions, and documentary film work. I love helping others unlock their creativity and see the world through their own unique lens.
