About Sam

I have lived and traveled abroad all throughout my adult life. I was born in Russia and have lived in the USA for most of my life. I have lived in Lithuania, Spain, and traveled all across the continent of Europe.
I have worked as an Assistant English Teacher teaching grades 4-12 in Murcia, Spain and have experience teaching private 1-1 lessons online/in-person with students from around the world, including many students from China, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, Colombia, Italy, Vietnam, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, USA, Canada, and many more. During my time teaching in Murcia, Spain I led the class instruction and activities, which included English language lessons, United States history lessons, and lectures regarding North American culture, as well as sharing my own native Russian heritage with the students and faculty. I also taught English as a second language through 1-1 private lessons in person as well as using online virtual chat platforms such as Zoom, Skype, etc. I focused on any/all subjects that the students were interested in through conversational English speaking as well as games/activities for 2 people. I have prepared students of all ages for various exams, as well as professional adults for job interviews, English placement tests, work presentations, etc. I have worked with students to improve their knowledge of Business English.

About the lesson

I like to work with the needs of my student(s) on an individual basis. I believe that it is paramount to implement lessons and activities that work with the strengths and interests of the students, in order for them to adapt the language in a way that relates to their lives. I am open to history/cultural lessons that can help contextualize language, as well as open dialogue and using the Socratic method to use language to debate and discuss various topics of interest. In addition, I am open to preparing lesson plans or taking any/all suggestions for both traditional and non-traditional learning styles. I work well with all levels of English mastery: beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels are all welcome!
