About Joanna
I am a UConn graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication. In the spring of 2017, I received my TEFL certificate after completing 150 hours of coursework, including 20 hours in the classroom. I traveled to Thailand and taught secondary education for 10 months from May to March of the following year. In addition to planning lessons and managing my own classrooms, I taught online for 8 hours per week and tutored two boys twice a week. The majority of my teaching focused on writing, reading comprehension, and vocabulary.

My ESL teaching experience has been with children ages 10-15. My students have been at various levels, ranging from very little knowledge of English to almost fluent. Typically, I choose a topic and then go over the topic, show examples, and provide some practice for the student. Practice is the key to grasping a language in my experience.
