About Ushir
I'm Ushir, a native English speaker from South Africa and a TEFL-certified tutor. Before teaching, I spent years in HR and recruitment for tech start-ups, where I interviewed hundreds of candidates and coached people through high-pressure conversations. That experience taught me exactly where English breaks down when it matters most, and how to fix it.
I hold a 120-hour Advanced TEFL certificate and a specialist Business English qualification, so my approach is grounded in real methodology, not guesswork. I'm also a lifelong learner myself: I'm studying Japanese and working towards another degree, which keeps me honest about how it feels to be the beginner on the other side of the screen.
I'm patient, direct, and genuinely invested in the people I teach. I won't waste your time, and I won't pretend a lesson went well if it didn't. What I offer is steady, honest guidance and a calm space to improve at your own pace.

My method is simple: you don't learn a language by studying it, you learn it by using it. So we work through the things that actually matter to you, whether that's a job interview, a work presentation, business writing, or English through film, model-kit building and gaming.
I teach in English and I'm a native speaker. I hold a 120-hour Advanced TEFL certificate and a specialist Business English qualification, and before tutoring I spent years in HR and recruitment, interviewing hundreds of candidates. That's shaped how I coach people to communicate under pressure.
A typical lesson starts with what you want to achieve that day. Lessons are structured but never textbook-heavy, and you leave every session with something you can use. In the first lesson, we'll agree your pace, how you want corrections handled, and a clear goal to work towards.
My lessons are aimed at young adults and professionals improving their English for work, and hobbyists who want to think and speak in English without it feeling like school. I especially welcome neurodivergent learners, including autistic and ADHD students and anyone who stammers or has a speech difference. I won't rush you, talk over you, or pressure you to perform.
