About Jason

Performer, educator, and lover of all things music, Jason Pandelidis is a lyric tenor. He was last seen as the Ghost of Christmas Present in Omaha Community playhouse’s A Christmas Carol. A native Pennsylvanian, Jason received his B.A. from Susquehanna University. Here, he sang the Watchman, from Martinů’s Ariene and scenes from Secret Garden as Archibald. After graduation, Jason taught choir at Dekaney High School and was a staff tenor at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, TX. Under the direction of the cathedral’s music director, Grammy Award-winning Robert L. Simpson, Jason sang the role of Gabriel in the North American premier of Bob Chilcott’s Christmas Oratorio. In 2023, Jason received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Literature from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, under the tutelage of Jerold Siena. In the Spring of 2021, he played Basilio in the LTI production of Le nozze di Figaro under the direction of Nathan Gunn. He also sang Normano in Lucia di Lammermoor, the Angel City Tenor in City of Angels, and Palhaço Beringela in the partial premier of João Guilherme Ripper’s Portuguese opera, Candinho. In the summer of 2022, he performed as Rolf in Sound of Music and Parpignol in La bohème at the Bay View Music Festival. Jason is excited to perform with Cedar Rapids Opera in January of 2024 in their production of Tosca, as a Young Artist. When he is not singing, he enjoys reading, playing board and video games, and engaging in other classical nerdy endeavors.

About the lesson

I use my experience as both a professional singer and teacher to meet you where you are and bring you to the skill-level you would like to be. I believe everyone has a right to learn, and that everyone can sing, if they put there mind to it. A general voice lesson would involve some light stretches, vocalizes, repertoire work, and a discussion of what worked and what didn't. Everyone learns differently, and, together, we can find what resonates (pun intended) with you!

If the student is interested in sight-singing and/or music theory, I have extensive knowledge in both of those topics through my higher education a public school teaching experience. I would be happy to work these subjects into the lesson, or teach them separately according to the student's preference.

I am confident teaching middle and high school students, as well as college students and adults. Younger ages may be difficult, but I am open to a discussion.
