Hello! My name is Hailey, and I specialize in tutoring students in English Language Arts and phonics. My approach is centered on creating a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel confident taking risks, asking questions, and growing as readers and writers.
I use a structured, student-centered approach that is tailored to each learner's individual needs. For phonics instruction, I focus on developing foundational reading skills through explicit teaching of letter-sound relationships, decoding strategies, word recognition, fluency, and phonemic awareness activities. In ELA, I help students strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing skills, grammar, and critical thinking through engaging and interactive lessons.
I incorporate modeling, guided practice, independent application, and regular review to ensure students master concepts and build lasting confidence.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previously learned skills, followed by direct instruction on a new concept. Students then participate in guided practice activities where we work together to apply the skill. Finally, students complete independent practice while I provide feedback and support. Each lesson concludes with a quick assessment or reflection to monitor progress and celebrate successes.
As an educator, I understand that every student learns differently. I prioritize building strong relationships with students and creating lessons that are engaging, encouraging, and personalized. My goal is not only to help students improve academically but also to foster a love of reading and learning. I am patient, enthusiastic, and committed to helping students reach their full potential.
My tutoring services are designed for elementary students, particularly those in kindergarten through fifth grade who need support with phonics, reading development, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, spelling, and overall literacy skills.
