About Maysie
Hi, I’m Maysie! I’m an experienced secondary school teacher from New Zealand, with over five years of experience teaching English and supporting students across a wide range of abilities.
I’m passionate about helping students build confidence as well as improve academically. My experience includes English, literacy, reading and writing support, and working with students who need a little extra help to reach their potential. I believe learning works best when students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and having a go.
My lessons are friendly, structured and tailored to each student. Whether you’re looking to improve your English, prepare for exams, strengthen your writing, or simply feel more confident with your learning, I’ll work with you to make sure lessons are useful, engaging and suited to your goals.

I began my career as a Teacher of English and developed my skills to become a Learning Support Specialist. Teaching kids who find English hard is my thing!
English can be confusing! I make things clear, straightforward and achievable. My teaching ethos is centred around providing tailored instruction for what it is my students need most. My lessons will cover ideas and skills that students can feel confident with and build into the challenging work at a pace that is achievable, motivating and concludes the lesson feeling like you have really taken away clear learning. I frequently revisit skills and ideas to ensure my students are consolidating their memory and I also use engaging material to keep interest and make content memorable.
