About Mpumelelo
Hello, I'm glad you're here and I'm confident I can help.
My name is Mpumelelo Sibeko, I am a passionate and experienced tutor with a proven track record of helping students unlock their potential in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences.
I hold a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Biomedical Science from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), a degree that required mastery of the very sciences I teach at matric level. I am currently completing my BCom in Information Systems, also at Wits, which speaks to my commitment to academic excellence and my ability to thrive across demanding disciplines. My scientific and analytical background means I don't just know these subjects, I understand them deeply, and that makes all the difference in how I explain them.
I have been tutoring students formally for 6 years. Over that time, I have worked with learners across Grade 10, 11, and 12 — from students who were struggling to pass, to those pushing for distinctions. I know where the gaps usually are, I know how the exams are structured, and I know how to prepare you for both.

My Approach to Teaching
I believe every student can excel in Math, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences, the difference is almost always in how the subject is explained, not how "smart" the student is. My approach is simple: I meet you where you are, figure out exactly where the gap is and build from there using clear, relatable explanations before moving to exam technique and practice.
As a final-year BCom Information Systems student at Wits and a BHSc Biomedical Science graduate, also from Wits, I bring a rare combination of scientific depth and analytical thinking to every lesson. I've been tutoring for 6 years, so I know exactly where students get stuck and how to get them unstuck quickly.
What Makes Me Different
I don't just help you get through tonight's homework. I teach you how to think through problems independently, so that when you're sitting in that exam hall, you're confident — not guessing. I combine conceptual understanding with targeted past-paper practice, because that's what actually moves marks.
Languages
I teach fluently in English.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
First 5 minutes: identify what the student struggled with since our last session
Core 40 minutes: concept explanation, worked examples, then student attempts independently
Last 15 minutes: past paper questions under timed conditions and feedback
Sessions run 60 minutes. I offer in-person lessons for students based in Johannesburg and online lessons via Google Meet for students outside Joburg, making quality tutoring accessible wherever you are in South Africa.
Who My Lessons Are For
I specialize in Grade 10, 11, and 12 learners preparing for tests, trials, and the NSC Matric examinations. I'm particularly effective with students who feel behind, have gaps from earlier grades, or are targeting a university exemption pass. I also assist students at private and international schools following the Cambridge or IEB curriculum.
