About Deana
Hi my name is Deana but everyone calls me Dee. I am a fun loving nature enthusiastic mum. I like using the environment around me to entertain and teach my son. I also love to bake and am an avid reader. I used to study law and international relations but I am now training to become a social worker (2nd year student). I used to be a family support worker and worked a lot with SEND adults and teens within a day center facility and supported living . My favourite animal is an elephant. I also think Chilli is the best character in Bluey as she reminds me a lot of myself with my little boy (especially when using games as an education tool/cleaning up those toys). Although he would say Bingo is the best as she is the cheekiest. I spend a lot of my time going on walks or listening to music whilst baking/reading. Others would often describe myself as an incredibly thoughtful, caring and bubbly character.

A typical lesson will run for 45 minutes to one hour long, I also only tutor those KS2 or below (11 and under). I aim to make each lesson fun and engaging with using games to keep interest alongside videos to help demonstrate and show. We will also do mini fun little quizzes together and timed exercises where the student can point out the mistakes in a sentence. Each week, I will start the first 5 minutes of the lesson with a little warm up rhyming game depending on their age or a chat about what they have done that week and how we can relate it to our lessons, as such this could be used as an example for a creative writing exercise that relates to the individual whilst also engaging their imagination. My method of teaching stems off of a learning journey with your child about what works best for them as an individual. I take a child led approach as they are the authors of their journeys. My experience of working with children is as a mother of a highly lively 4 year old boy and as a social work student. Often within my degree I need to find games and tasks to engage with a child to learn with them. As well as within my own personal life supporting my own child with his learning and development ahead of joining school and during his time there.
