About Tam
I am a postgraduate student majoring in International Business (Professional) at Swinburne university of Technology. I will undertake another course in Teaching (Secondary School) at ACU in this July. I used to do mentoring for more than 3 years during my undergraduate in Vietnam which include English mentoring for a 9th-grader and a 1st grader and Maths, Literature & English mentoring for an 8th-grade. Interacting with students at different ages and different paces of lives allow me to build my ability to understand, communicate and build rapport with them. Also, doing mentoring throughout these years help me to improve my patience and resilience in every tough situation as well as enhance my conscientiousness of interacting and educating people. In 2014, I participated in Global Citizen Program of AIESEC, particularly I was taking part in “AMSA Indonesia Project” in Bandung, Indonesia for 5 weeks. Our main duties were to prepare workshops and come to local kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and educate kids about health care and healthy lifestyles. We also visited some orphanages and health foundations to conduct fun activities for special kids. From 2015 to 2016, I was in charge of an event coordinator for a voluntary club in my hometown named “I Dare To Change”. Our target audience was secondary students from grade 6 to grade 9 and our main jobs were to organise events that help them to improve themselves in studying, lifestyle and ways of thinking. These voluntary experiences not only improve my interpersonal & communication skills but also assist me in organising & planning things/ projects accordingly and the most important thing is I feel totally happy and satisfied when I can contribute my ability in making great impact on the society.

I believe teachers do more than teach and their impacts go far beyond the classrooms. A teacher is not just an educator but also a mentor, a confidant and a friend. Hence, for me maintaining friendliness, caring and resilience is important when giving lessons. Also, in my opinion, teaching methods should be personalised based on student's capability of understanding. Getting to know my students, figuring out their studying methods and approaching them that way are my go-to way of teaching.
