About Lily
I am a second-year history student at the University of Cambridge with a continuing passion and fascination for psychology. I have previous experience tutoring, have taught ballet as a baby ballet instructor and worked as a supermarket assistant at Waitrose. All of these roles have strengthened skills including communication, punctuality, and organisation. I am a committed rower at Downing College with multiple responsibilities including Lower Boats Captain and Tank Officer, which have further enhanced my time management and work efficiency. All of the above experience has supported and enhanced the tutoring which I am able to offer!

Having studied AQA Psychology A-level from 2022-2024, my passion for the subject has extended into offering supportive and effective tutoring for the AQA exam board. I have experience with a range of approaches to consolidating understanding, including practice questions, blurting, flashcards, and diagrams. I thoroughly believe in identifying which approaches work best for each individual student and tailoring the sessions to best suit them. Using these methods helped me achieve A*A*A* in Psychology, History, and English Literature, and since then I have gone on to study at the University of Cambridge, beginning my second year of Historical Tripos this October. I am a particular advocate for the importance of practice questions and past papers in order to both test understanding of content as well as familiarising students with crucial exam technique. If exam technique is a significant area of weakness, we can structure sessions around looking at past papers or having the student complete a set of practice questions and rewriting the answers to identify which areas could be improved. Lessons ideally will be an hour long. Having experienced teaching as a baby ballet instructor, I have skills suited for patiently supporting and explaining psychology to students working at any level and helping them strive towards achieving their desired grade. With thorough recent understanding of the A-level course and consistent A*s throughout, I am able to support and relate to students currently experiencing the high-pressure environment of A-level studies. I have studied the compulsory content from the AQA specification in the years 2022-2024 and studied the optional topics of cognition and development, schizophrenia, and forensic psychology. I am also able to teach the alternative optional topics on the specification!
