About Edward

I'm an 18 year old student who has recently finished my schooling at Eton College in Windsor. Having achieved the A level results that I required, I am now an Undergraduate at Durham University, studying General Engineering.

As I have completed my A levels and GCSEs so recently, I have a strong grasp of the curriculums, as well as an understanding of the best ways to prepare for them.

I pride myself on being organised, as that ensures that all lesson time is dedicated to improving your understanding of both content and exam technique.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around ensuring that students genuinely understand Mathematics, rather than simply memorising methods to reproduce in an exam. Having achieved an A* in A Level Mathematics (89%) and a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics (96%), I have a strong understanding of both the subject and the skills required to perform well in examinations.

I tailor each lesson to the individual student. Initially, I will identify their current level, strengths and areas that require improvement, allowing lessons to focus on what will be most beneficial. I explain concepts clearly and logically, breaking difficult topics into manageable steps and encouraging students to ask questions throughout. We will then reinforce understanding through worked examples and carefully selected practice questions, gradually building confidence and independence.

A typical lesson would usually last one hour, although I am happy to adapt this depending on the student's age, concentration and individual requirements. Lessons can involve learning new content, revisiting difficult topics, completing homework or preparing specifically for upcoming tests and examinations. For students approaching GCSE or A Level exams, I can also incorporate past-paper and exam-style questions, helping them develop effective problem-solving and exam techniques.

While I am beginning my professional tutoring experience, my recent experience studying both GCSE and A Level Mathematics means that I have a strong understanding of the current curriculum and the challenges students commonly face. Having only recently completed these qualifications, I can also provide a student's perspective on how to revise effectively and approach challenging topics.

My lessons are suitable for students studying Mathematics at KS3, GCSE and A Level, including students who want to improve their confidence and grades as well as those aiming for the highest marks.
