About Simran
I am undergraduate student studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Birmingham. I am deeply interested in research, especially in the working of the human body and exploring aspects that are still unknown to us. I have recently also developed an interest in pharmacology and mechanisms for developing medicines for different diseases. I enjoy studying biology, therefore explaining the associated topics in different ways that helps another person understand them is the main reason I chose to teach biology. I believe I want to fascinate another curious mind, the same way I was fascinated by my teachers!

I usually focus on deep understanding of the concepts since that results in retention of the topic, especially in biology since rote learning will not help in application-based questions. We will first start with a basic skim through of the topic, followed by a detailed explanation of the concepts that are extremely important. Then, we can go over any doubts the student has with better or an alternative explanation. Finally, end it by covering the small necessary details and some necessary reading to wrap up our understanding. I will then ask the student to recap what they learnt to check if there are any flaws in their understanding. I prefer sessions to be interactive, rather than a one-sided lecture. Depending on the topic, the student requires, length can vary but I won't be teaching more than 1 hour at a stretch since the student won't be able to understand as attentively in longer sessions. I usually taught students in my apartment and school in India without pay. The teaching interest started when I used to regularly teach my younger brother from the tender age of 4. I would prefer students to be o the age 6- 15 as I can help their basic understanding of concepts with my detailed studies in them.
