About Rishi

I’m an engineering graduate (B.Tech, Electronics & Communication), and I tutored school students from primary classes up to class 10 for about five years, in person and online. Parents saw clear improvement in their children’s marks. I’ve always wanted to know the “why” behind things, and that’s how I teach.

One of my class 9 students was good with numbers but struggled badly with Geometry. We started drawing each step and using solid 3-D figures, then applied the same method to other problems. He went from struggling to scoring comfortably above class average. He wasn’t “weak.” He needed a better system, and that’s what I try to give every student.

Outside of teaching, I sing, play guitar and keyboard, make art, and play chess (an amateur, but I enjoy it).

Let’s make learning make sense.

Struggling with Maths or Physics usually isn’t about ability. It’s about memorising formulas without being able to picture the problem.

My approach is called Understand First:

Understand it. Break it down. Solve it.

Before any formula, we work out what the problem is really asking. In Physics, I’ll ask for a prediction first (why does water stay cool in an earthen pitcher? why do you wobble forward when a bus brakes?), then we work out why, starting from the student’s own thinking. In Geometry, we draw it and use real objects until it can be seen.

How a class runs:

1. Concept: we build the idea step by step, starting with the “why.”
2. Together: we solve one problem side by side.
3. Your turn: the student solves the next ones, step by step, and I guide only where needed.
4. Challenge: I change the numbers or the problem, or ask “what if we skipped this step?”, to check the understanding is real and not just a copied pattern.

Suitable for complete beginners and for primary and secondary school students.
