About NURUL ATIQAH ZAIDI

I am a certified art educator holding a Diploma in Art Teaching alongside a First Class Honors degree in Fine Arts, where I graduated as the top student and Best Graduate of my cohort. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s of Fine Arts as a recipient of the prestigious National Arts Council (NAC) Postgraduate Award.

My deep passion for teaching is grounded in both rigorous studio research and formal pedagogical training, giving me a unique ability to translate complex contemporary art theory into accessible, inspiring, and actionable guidance for students.
Over the years, I have worked extensively with a wide spectrum of learners—ranging from younger children exploring creative fundamentals to youths navigating competitive portfolio milestones.

My experience spans hands-on studio instruction, direct community and youth mentorship, and high-level academic coaching. Having walked the path of institutional excellence myself, I understand how to nurture an individual’s authentic voice while building the technical discipline, critical thinking, and artistic confidence required to excel.

As a portfolio mentor and academic coach, I specialize in guiding dedicated students through high-stakes transitions. Whether preparing secondary school applicants for Direct School Admission (SOTA DSA), helping tertiary candidates build winning international university portfolios (e.g., LASALLE, NAFA, NTU ADM, UAL, RISD), or coaching students in art history and visual culture essay writing, my mentorship provides the strategic edge, conceptual depth, and editorial polish needed to succeed.

About the lesson

High-impact, concept-driven art mentorship tailored for admissions, academia, and elite portfolio development.

Unlike casual art studios that focus solely on technical rendering, I provide rigorous, institutional-level mentorship designed to help students secure entry into top-tier arts institutions (e.g., SOTA DSA, LASALLE, NAFA, NTU ADM, UAL, RISD, Bartlett) or excel in academic art history and essay writing.

What My Mentorship Covers:

- Strategic Portfolio Building: Ideation layout, conceptual depth, material experimentation, and cohesive narrative flow for institutional admission.

- Art Academia & Essay Writing: Structuring critical visual arts essays, mastering formal analysis, art history frameworks, and academic research methodologies.

- Exhibition Statements & Interview Prep: Writing compelling artist statements and building interview confidence to articulate your practice clearly to admissions panels.

My Teaching Approach:

1. Diagnostic Review: We analyze your target institution or assignment brief and map out a step-by-step timeline.

2. Conceptual Grounding: I introduce contemporary art theory, contextual frameworks, and research methods alongside studio practice.

3. Iterative Feedback: Dynamic studio crits and editorial guidance on both visual work and written essays.
