About Brooke
Spanish was mandatory in the elementary school I attended, meaning I have plenty of early learning experience. In middle school, I was only able to take one year but completed another two years in high school. Not only am I familiar with the type of learning that comes from academic study—I grew up with most of my friends speaking fluent Spanish. I still study Spanish as I believe we can spend our whole lives improving our linguistics, even the kind we were born speaking. I have plenty of hands-on learning with a native speaker who doesn't understand much English herself. It can be difficult finding good mental notes when trying to understand something most people won't know how to explain. I ask the questions to know why something is said the way it was to better understand the flow and grammar structure. Let me share the tips I learned when trying to speak Spanish!

I wasn't born into a Spanish speaking family but I've learned a lot about the language. I specifically study Spanish from Mexico. There are tons of small differences between different country's dialects of Spanish. What one word that means "to take" in Spain would be something very inappropriate if spoken in Mexico. Those little mistakes are what I focus on. I can only aid beginning level Spanish speakers (A1 and below). I have tons of tricks for pronunciation, memorizing vocabulary and understanding grammar structures like the "que" clause or indirect vs direct object pronouns. Spanish was one of few subjects that didn't come to me naturally, so I studied extra hard and still felt very unknowing. Let me share what I've learned studying for 4 years!
