About Brooke
I"m a speech langauge pathologist with a wide range of professional experience in schools and healthcare settings. I have had the pleasure to work in private and public schools, including Montessori, educational clinics and even in accent modification. I've had the honor to work with a wide variety of disciplines and love collaboration with others. I work with children from prek-adult. I am in the Charlotte, NC area. I have an MS in Communication Science from ECU, a MS in Educational Psychology from Capella and a BA in Anthropology from UNCC

As a speech-language pathologist, I do find that language can be both the obstacle and the key to improving learning difficulties in all areas. I used a strengths oriented and individualized approach to determine the best course of action and prioritize the skills to be addressed. My goal is to help a person know how they learn best, so they can feel empowered to address the skills that need improvement. I use a scaffolded approach, with activities intended for skills practice, recall and fluency; and gradually increase the complexity of tasks until we are working with the wholistic functional skill (think- letters- words-sentences- paragraph; or numbers, basic facts, computation-word problems). I love to work with school aged people in the evenings and on weekends. I also love to work on comprehension (which affects all subject areas). If you find yourself saying "They are so smart, I'm not sure why they are having trouble", or "I don't know why they just don't get it", or feel that you just can't find the right person to work with your child; I encourage you to reach out for a consultation.
