About Michelle

I am passionate about teaching children how to read and spell. Over my career I have built a wealth of experience and resources to deliver results from the most struggling students. I strongly believe in evidence-based practice and ensure I keep up to date with current research and recommendations.

About the lesson

I am trained in various types of assessment and intervention using an evidence-based approach to systematically teach students the necessary skills for reading and spelling. Student progress is monitored weekly and goals are amended accordingly. Copies of resources and carryover activities can be provided to parents. Research recommends sessions of 30 mins two to three times per week for optimum results but this varies according to the student's age and starting point. I would do a benchmark assessment in the first session to let you know their starting point and a plan from there. Early intervention works best so the sooner you notice concerns and refer your child, the better. I can also support with further assessment where necessary and for an extra charge I can complete formal language assessments, and assist with multidisciplinary assessment for school funding or NDIS funding. Face to face sessions preferred but I can also offer online. **Please note I am currently at capacity with students but if you would like to reach out for advice I can help you navigate the best options**
