About Zuriel

I am a rising freshman at Columbia University. I was selected by faculty at my previous alma-mater as a Spanish, Biology, and Writing. I believe that learning should be fun and rewarding, thus, I utilize games and other resources to make sessions more engaging.

About the lesson

As a Spanish tutor, my approach is student-centered and tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of my learners. I believe in creating an engaging and interactive learning environment that promotes active participation and fosters a deeper understanding of the Spanish language and culture.

My teaching method combines various techniques to ensure a well-rounded learning experience. Here are some of the techniques I use:

Conversational Approach: I emphasize conversational skills from the very beginning, encouraging students to practice speaking Spanish as much as possible. This approach helps learners develop their fluency and gain confidence in real-life communication.

Contextual Learning: I integrate authentic materials, such as news articles, videos, songs, and literature, into lessons to provide a meaningful context for language learning. This approach allows students to connect with the language in a more natural and engaging way.

Grammar in Context: Rather than teaching grammar in isolation, I present grammar concepts within the context of authentic language use. This helps students understand how grammar structures work and how they are used in real-life situations.

Multimodal Learning: I employ a variety of resources, including visual aids, audio recordings, interactive exercises, and online platforms, to cater to different learning styles and make the lessons more interactive and engaging.

A typical lesson plan with me would involve a mix of different activities.
