About Virginia

Hi! I’m Virginia, a UCD Structural Engineering & Architecture student who has always had a strong connection to Spanish, having lived in the Dominican Republic and developed native-level fluency. I’ve also had the opportunity to use my Spanish professionally as a volunteer translator, helping Spanish-speaking families access important health information.

I want to teach Spanish because I genuinely enjoy helping people become more confident with the language and seeing their progress over time. I know that learning a new language can feel intimidating at first, so I aim to make my lessons friendly, encouraging, and something students can look forward to.

Whether you are learning Spanish for school, travel, family, or simply because you want to speak another language, I would love to help you reach your goals and feel comfortable using Spanish in everyday situations.

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed, interactive, and tailored to each student’s goals and level. I like to focus on practical Spanish and building confidence, while still making sure students understand the grammar and vocabulary behind what they are learning. I encourage students to speak as much as possible and use conversations, examples, and exercises to make lessons engaging rather than simply memorising lists of words.

Lessons would typically be around 1 hour, giving us enough time to learn something new, practise it, and review any areas that need more attention.

I am fluent in Spanish and developed native-level proficiency through years of living in the Dominican Republic. I also have professional translation experience from volunteering at Boston Children’s Hospital, translating health education materials for Spanish-speaking families. I also have experience tutoring and mentoring students, so I understand the importance of adapting lessons to the individual and creating a supportive environment.

I am happy to teach children, teenagers, and adults, from complete beginners to more advanced students. Whether you are starting Spanish from scratch, preparing for school exams, or simply want to become more comfortable speaking the language, I can tailor lessons to your needs.
