About Paula
Young Spanish teacher living Glasgow.
I studied Spanish Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid and I completed a master’s degree in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the same university last year. Now, I am currently a Phd student at the University of Barcelona and I am working as a Spanish Native Language Teacher at the university of Glasgow. I have also done an Erasmus internship at the University of Kent, as one of the Spanish teacher assistants and after that I was a teacher in an Academy in my hometown for children and teenagers. I have also worked with teenagers as a monitor in summer camps because I have been a going to summer mountain camps since I was six years old.
I may describe myself as a responsible, extrovert, hard-worker and open-minded person, who is interested in other cultures and learning about them to apply the intercultural knowledge to the Spanish lessons.

I think a necessity analysis is always needed when starting with a new group of students. Every student and every group is different.
My lesson plan needs to have very different kind of activities, regarding the content, we need to pay attention to all the skills students of languages need to learn, and, regarding the methodology, it is needed to pay attention to the different ways of learning, we need to include activities for all the different learning styles and be aware of visual, aural, verbal, physical, logical, social and solitary learners.
I try to include images, songs, videos, kinaesthetic activities to my lessons plan, as well as I try to explain with different strategies as numbers, linguistic explanations depending on students, levels and interests.
I think it is also very important to ask the students about their opinion. I always try to do a questionary, an activity or have a talk to them – if possible – to get to know what they think about the classes, if there is anything they don’t like, something they would like to change or which are the things that they like, enjoy and consider useful for their learning.
Moreover, I include on my lesson plans GAMES or a gamify activities most of the time.
Gamify activities are useful for students to get to know each other and for teachers to know their students.
Finally communicative approach is the best way for students to learn the language as the main objective is to be able to communicate.

Paula is a lovely teacher who teaches any level of the Spanish Language. She has a very useful game-friendly teaching style, and she has developed her own materials. She seems very hardworking, and whenever I came with a doubt, she would take time to explain and find additional references for me to take a look at.
Paula is an exceptional teacher, for she proves to be a very organised and diligent person. In addition to being an outstanding teacher, she is a helpful and understanding person, which contributes to creating a pleasant environment during the class.
