About Iciar

I have been a Spanish tutor for 7 years now. I am a native speaker (Spain). I teach students that learn Spanish at school and also homeschooled students. I prepare also students that do not study Spanish at school because they have a Spanish parent and I prepare them to take Spanish one or two years earlier. My students get higher marks than their expected grades (9, 8, 7 if they started with foundation level). As I teach online, 1to1, I have had success with students with dyslexia, ADHD, certain levels of autism, because I can adapt the lesson to their own skills and use different tools which can excel their attainment. A Level: I have deep knowledge and many resources on several films and books: La Casa de Bernarda Alba, Las Bicicletas son para el Verano, Crónica de una Muerte Anunciada, Volver, El Laberinto de Fauno, Ocho Apellidos Vascos...as well as the topics, grammar and exam technique for AQA board. I could not be prouder of two of my students who decided to study Spanish for Alevel after studying GCSE Spanish with me and later, they have decided to study languages at Uni. I am also teaching adults and even elderly, helping them keep an active brain through the week with homework etc. about several topics that interest them. Contact me for any further information.

About the lesson

I adapt my lessons to the students and their school programme, in order to complement and not confuse their progress. I also train the students to get the top marks focusing on exam technique and practice. I am trained to teach the tricky Spanish language issues in a different and efficient way (i.e. when to use each past tense, por/para, ser/estar, idioms, subjunctive, etc.) I always offer homework and a copy of the lesson if students wish to revise or between lessons I create online resources to help practise Spanish while playing or using different apps. (I use youtube, google classroom, flashcards, games, and other useful and easy applications online). Some of my adult students start from scratch and other students have a good level but they wish to improve certain mistakes or just practise conversation.
