About McKenna

I began my studies ten years ago and received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Communications from the University of North Georgia. In my Junior year of college, I packed up my life in two suitcases and moved to Granada, Spain to attend la Universidad de Granada and to advance my language skills. Prior to moving to Spain, I had tutored many of my peers at the high school and collegiate level. However, I took my first try at teaching English to children ages 5-12 at a local private school in Spain. Upon arriving back to the USA my Senior year, I volunteered for a local nonprofit as a translator while also maintaining a weekly tutoring job.

Since college, I have worked as an international flight attendant servicing flights throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Let's just say the passengers on the Latin American flights are always muy surprised when they hear "la Rubia" speaking Spanish. While working as a flight attendant, I have also tutored college students to help them meet their course requirements as well as teach Spanish to adults who haven't taken a Spanish course in years.

Through my tutoring/teaching experiences, I have taught a vast array of people at different levels with different goals. Whether if that was to learn Spanish without any prior background or to help college students navigate those tricky online courses, I have always tried to use my knowledge and experiences to push my students further.

About the lesson

I approach each student differently depending on their skill level, goals, and prior experience. I always give my students a broad exposure to vocabulary, grammar structure, and oral comprehension while focusing on the student's goals and interests. I teach students of all ages developing personalized lessons to help them connect Spanish with their daily life.

The heart of what I do will always be based around connecting with people. I always focus on making the experience enjoyable and fun while also giving encouragement to my students. I believe that the best part of knowing a second language is being able to connect with more people, and I would love to connect with you as well.
