About Alicia

Who I Am:
Hi! I’m Alicia, a dedicated Spanish tutor and language specialist with an academic background in Spanish language and culture from the University of Edinburgh and an accredited Level 5 TEFL certification.

Having learnt Spanish from scratch myself over eight years ago—and later teaching directly in secondary classrooms in Seville, Spain—I know firsthand how intimidating grammar rules, listening exams, and speaking tests can feel. Over the past three years, I’ve delivered more than 500 private lessons to 60+ students, helping them move past self-doubt and achieve genuine confidence and top marks.

Who I Want to Teach:
My lessons are designed for learners who want structured guidance, clear frameworks, and a supportive environment:
GCSE & SQA National 5 / Higher Students: Learners preparing for official exams across AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and Scottish SQA boards who want to master mark schemes, nail 90- and 150-word writing tasks, and conquer speaking anxiety.
A-Level Students: Sixth-form students looking to master complex grammar (like the subjunctive), refine analytical writing, and develop spontaneous fluency for oral exams.

About the lesson

Teaching Methodology & Approach:
My name is Alicia, and my teaching focuses on structured exam technique, clear grammar frameworks, and spoken confidence. Having learnt Spanish from scratch myself, I break down complex rules—like the subjunctive and pronoun placement—into simple, logical formulas rather than rote memorisation.

We master high-scoring essay structures, listening strategies, and past-paper techniques alongside low-pressure speaking drills (role-plays and stimulus cards) to eliminate exam anxiety and build spontaneous fluency.

Qualifications & Experience:
I have delivered over 500 private lessons to 60+ students, alongside direct secondary classroom teaching in the UK and Seville, Spain. I hold an accredited Level 5 TEFL certification and an advanced academic background in Spanish language and culture from the University of Edinburgh.

Lesson Structure & Length:
Lessons are typically 60 minutes for balanced grammar and conversational practice, with 45-minute and 90-minute options available depending on target goals and deadlines.

Who Lessons Are For
GCSE & SQA (National 5 / Highers): Exam technique, writing frames, and speaking drills across AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and SQA boards.
A-Level: Advanced grammar, literary commentary, and spontaneous discussion.
