About Chandra
Though currently a medical student, I previously worked as a middle school math and English tutor. I have a strong background in science given my medical training and Bachelor's degree in Biology. I became fluent in Spanish through lifelong education and my travels to Spain and Chile. I have taught medical and science material to in Spanish at an immersion summer camp for two years, tutored Spanish in college and now serve as a medical interpreter on the side. Additionally, I have experience working with students with learning disabilities and conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome and ADHD.

I have been trained in both vocabulary/grammar based methodology and immersion methodology. Though I prefer teaching through immersion, I can tailor my teaching style to the student's preference. I believe that speaking and listening to a language are the most powerful forms of practice and I often incorporate podcasts, music and videos in my teaching. Practicing themed vocabulary is key to enabling student conversation. For students already taking a high school/ university course, I can supplement the academic instruction and help with assignments and test preparation.

Details
I charge a $4 fee for travel locations accessible by public transportation (within 30 mins from the Como area of Minneapolis), and a $6 fee for locations not easily accessible by metro transit.
