About Shaila
Who I Am & Why I Want to Teach
I am Dr. Shaila Tahir, a researcher and educator with a background in social work and a strong passion for learning, teaching, and personal development. My academic journey—from completing my MSW to pursuing and completing my Ph.D.—has taught me the value of curiosity, discipline, and continuous learning.
I want to teach because I believe that education can change the way a person sees themselves and their possibilities. Over the years, I have realized that students do not always need someone who simply gives them answers; they need a teacher who listens to them, understands where they are struggling, and helps them believe that they can improve.
My teaching approach is therefore personal and student-centered.

My Personal Approach to Private Tutoring
I believe that effective tutoring is not just about completing a syllabus—it is about understanding the student, building confidence, and helping them discover their own potential.
My approach is student-centered, supportive, and personalized. I first try to understand each student's learning style, strengths, difficulties, and academic goals. I then adapt my teaching methods accordingly rather than using the same approach for everyone.
I focus on clear explanations, practical examples, active interaction, and regular feedback so that students do not simply memorize information but genuinely understand the concepts. I also encourage students to ask questions freely and learn from their mistakes without fear of judgment.
As a teacher and researcher, I bring an academic and evidence-based approach to tutoring while keeping lessons approachable and engaging. Whether a student needs help strengthening their fundamentals, preparing for examinations, improving academic performance, or developing greater confidence in a subject, I work with them step by step.
My goal is simple: to make learning less stressful, more meaningful, and more rewarding for every student.
I want my students to leave each session not only knowing more, but also feeling more confident in their ability to learn and succeed independently.
