About Jerry

I am a third-year undergraduate student studying music performance, seeking to tutor students looking to learn or enhance their percussion skills or music theory (up to level 8).

I am a recipient of the Oakville Chamber Orchestra Juniors third prize in 2019 and the Russell Hartenberger Percussion Scholarship in 2023. I have also participated in the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra as well as the Oakville Chamber Orchestra.

I also have experience in creating programs and teaching music to students in elementary schools through an overseas volunteering program that I took part in last summer.

About the lesson

Percussion may seem pretty straight-forward at first, but there are actually tons you can learn from it! Whether it's from the basics, or to several more advanced techniques, my goal is to help you understand, play the right way, and to have fun. Whether you're a beginner or someone who wants to learn more about percussion (specifically marimba!), I will do my best to assist you and promote confidence in your playing.

She recognized her weaknesses and weren't ashamed to share them and continue to work hard to improve on them. Throughout the lesson, she put a lot of effort to change and made a lot of good progress in a short amount of time; not only learning new patterns, but gradually being more comfortable with various hand motions. All that's left is to continue practicing to make sure the information is copy, paste, and saved!
