About Shuyi
Hi! I’m Shuyi, a native Mandarin speaker who grew up in China. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Cognitive Science and am currently in the University of Washington’s Elementary Teacher Education Program. I have experience working with elementary students in both general and special education classrooms, and I’m currently student teaching in a Mandarin dual-language classroom. I make Mandarin lessons practical, engaging, and personalized for each student. Depending on your goals, we can focus on speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing, homework support, or everyday conversation. For children, I use age-appropriate activities and examples to make learning fun and easy to understand. I also adjust each lesson based on the student’s Mandarin level, interests, and learning pace. My goal is to help students feel comfortable using Mandarin and build confidence step by step.
