About Lydia

As a high school senior balancing a rigorous schedule of multiple AP courses, I bring a strong academic foundation, deep organization, and genuine dedication to my tutoring sessions. Beyond the classroom, I am an Eagle Scout and an active member of my community, values that have shaped my core approach to leadership, mentorship, and responsibility.

My background as an Eagle Scout and my extensive community service have instilled in me a high standard of professionalism, patience, and dependability. Just as scouting taught me the importance of planning, guiding others through challenges, and seeing projects through to the finish line, my commitment to community service has taught me how to listen actively and support those around me. I bring this exact dedication to every tutoring session, ensuring a structured, respectful, and encouraging environment.

When I’m not in school or studying, you can usually find me outdoors, spending quality time with my friends and family, or volunteering locally. I believe that a balanced, positive lifestyle fuels success in all areas of life.

About the lesson

As a high school senior with a deep passion for literature and communication, I offer personalized, engaging tutoring in English writing and reading comprehension. Whether you are working to boost your grades, refine your essay structure, or sharpen your reading analysis skills, I am here to help you succeed!
My teaching methods are interactive and collaborative. I believe in active learning rather than simply telling lecturing on what to do. I would break down complex texts and essays step-by-step so learning feels approachable.
For writing, I will guide students through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and final polishing. For reading comprehension, we would focus on active strategies like annotation, identifying core themes, and breaking down complex passages.
A typical lesson plan would start with Check in and Goal Setting (5-10mins) where we go over what you want to achieve during the session and look over recent homework or upcoming assignments. Next, would be Core Focus (35-40 mins) where we dive into the targeted practice, whether that's analyzing challenging literature or working in an essay paragraph by paragraph. Finally would be Wrap-up and Action Plan (10 mins) where we summarize key takeaways and establish clear, manageable next steps before next meeting.
Being a high school senior myself, I have recently navigated the exact same academic pressures, essay prompts, and reading lists that my students would face. I bring a relatable, peer-to-peer perspective that helps students feel comfortable asking questions without hesitation. I make learning stress-free, encouraging, and easy to connect with.
These lessons are tailored specifically for middle school and high school students (grades 6 through 12) who want to improve their English language arts (ELA) performance, strengthen their essay-writing skills for school classes, or build stronger strategies for literary analysis and reading comprehension.
