Find out more about Ramy

  • 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

I was 5 years old when I got my first toy computer and I was mesmerised ever since. I remember when I was 10 years old in 2005 I was helping my father in his office and I was responsible for installing windows operating systems on the PCs in his office using Floppy disks (if you don't know it was the storage device before CDs)
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

Being a 90s guy I am fortunate to see a lot of technologies from their birth to their evolution. One of the most fascinating in my eyes was the birth of the internet. It opened up a vast array of possibilities that was unprecedented. I believe AI and Machine learning are marking the turning point in the field and I'm excited to see what's next.
  • 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

My expertise is in Data Analysis and Visualisation. I'm interested in it because I've always loved puzzles and logic games and to me Data Analysis is putting pieces together and finding the order in chaos which fascinates me. Data Analysis is so important in the computer world, with it we can find trends in behaviour and predict future changes to better plan for the future.
  • 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

They do inspire me in the way that they were able to come up with an idea and believe in it so much that they were willing to fight all the people who wanted to shut them down to get their idea to fruition. That to me is so inspiring.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I remember in school they were teaching computer skills and the teacher spent a long time trying to setup the projector. When he went out to get some help I jumped in to fix it and I did. When he came back he was so surprised and I made sure no one told him so he doesn't get embarrassed.
  • 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

Everyone started somewhere. Don't compare yourself with the giants, instead put them as an end goal and take it one step at a time. Every step you take gets you closer to them. I remember reading in a book that if you spent 20 min daily on one skill you'll be better than 90% of people in that skill. That's the power of compounding knowledge.
  • 7) What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I like learning new technologies every day. Currently I'm taking a course in Mathematics and another in Data Science. I love gaming and spending time with my family and friends. Reading is also a passion of mine, although I need to re-ignite that passion and get back to reading more.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in IT?

I have dabbled in so many technologies from a very young age. I've worked in Graphic Design, Web Development, App Development, Data Analysis, Automation, No Code Solutions, and many others. I've worked with big names in the Industry like Google and Amazon (currently). I know how computers work, I know the software and I can help get further than you anticipated you could ever go beyond.
